Superheroes and Their Super Cars

Will Smith in the recently released Hancock notwithstanding (the superhero flies in this one, so no super car here), generally, you can always associate superheroes with the super cars they flaunt - be it Batman's Batmobile or the X-jet Blackbird or even, the Harley from Ghost Rider. The innovative minds fashioning these mean machines leave no stone unturned, and these super cars' accessories and design would probably match up to your wildest car-fantasies.

Let us take an in-depth look at some of the most popular super cars but please bear in mind that all the details we are going to discuss are fictitious and are the figment of the creator's imagination!

First up, the Batmobile - the trusty steed of the Dark Knight needs no introduction. With an armour plated chassis and rocket boost-enabled high performance engine complemented by special devices and mounted weapons, the Batmobile is a powerhouse with good space to manoeuvre and resistant to enemy attacks and obstacles. To add to these features, there are also those additional little nuggets like a forensic kit, tiny helicopter, a remote and computer linkage to the Batcave. The Batmobile is also frequently referred to as being powered by a nuclear generation of electricity.

Next, we come to the X-men. Armed with all the latest technology, courtesy Dr. Xavier, the X-men use the fictitious aircraft, Blackbird (later renamed as the X-jet). It was quite obviously modelled on the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a long-range, strategic reconnaissance aircraft. The original aircraft line was in service for over three decades - from 1964 to 1998, wherein 32 models of the aircraft were created. The X-men version of the blackbird was different on a couple of major aspects - the X-jet could seat multiple passengers and it was modified for 'Vertical Take-off and Landing.'

After that we come to the newest super 'vehicle' - not quite a car, but more than worth a mention on our list. Although the movie Ghost Rider didn't make such a lasting impression, his ride definitely did. In the movie, Nicolas Cage aka Johnny Blaze rides a 'Buell' motorcycle to double up as a stunt cycle, and Grace', a heavily customized hard tail chopper, which transforms into the "Hell Cycle" - spewing fire and with a blazing skull at the front. The Ghost Rider's skull flames were meant to display any emotion other than rage, and hence designed to become smaller and blue.

Another superhero vehicle which catches your eye is the Swat Kats' jet - the Turbokat. Razor and T-bone love taking it out for a spin while fighting crime at the same time. The aspects of the jet include the latest weapon system plus the Vertical Take-off and Landing feature - it's a two-seater though. Also, the Turbokat holds a couple of small motorcycles within, which are used by the Swat Kats when needed.

A special mention here of Robin's motorcycle - conferred with the title of 'Robin-mobile' is a disgrace to the batmobile and a hot contender for the worst superhero vehicle ever. However that notorious title is conferred on Spiderman's All Terrain Vehicle, christened Spidermobile - how could the writers even imagine a situation where Spiderman drives an ATV?

Well, that was a round-up of all the different superheroes' rides - my vote goes to the Batmobile, not just for its versatility but for the aesthetically-pleasing design, which puts it miles ahead of the competition.

Prestige Car Hire - Hire a Super Car

With a car rental, you can drive a super car. When most people see a Ferrari, Lotus, or a Porsche on the road, few of them stop to consider that they could hire one of those cars. Most of us might never get to own one, but that doesn't mean we should feel that driving one is beyond the limits of possibility.

Prestige car hire are made strictly to impress. Imagine hiring a Bentley for your wedding day or a Lamborghini on your graduation. You hire one of these cars because they garner attention. Impress a beautiful woman with a ride in a Ferrari, or an important business client with a pick up in a Rolls Royce.

Sports cars offer us the combination of speed, luxury, and safety. People often debate the difference between a sports car and a "sporting" car, for our purposes they are all prestige cars.

A prestige car is anything that can impress. We have already run through some so far, but others might be Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, or a Range Rover. Any of these cars, and many others, have the inherit ability to pass as a status symbol.

There are many ways to find a prestige car hire. You can refer to the Yellow Pages, hotels, airports, auto enthusiasts, or you can look on the Internet. The Internet is probably your best source for finding where to hire a prestige car. You can sort your search in several ways. You can type in the name of the make or model auto that you are looking to hire. You can simply punch in "prestige car hire." Either of these means should get you plenty of results. Next, sort your "hits" by the city you are in or the one you will be visiting. You should have accessibility to prestige cars at almost any population center, city, or urban area.

There was a time when finding a prestige car hire was a difficult thing, but not any longer. If you can dream of driving it, it is most likely that you can find it for hire.

Hiring these types of vehicles is going to cost you more than a practical car and van hire would. There will be extra insurance charges and additional fees. There will be age restrictions and, quite possibly, distance and destination restrictions, as well. Also, the mileage costs will be much higher. You will fill the car with fuel more often, as these prestige cars do not get high ratings for gas mileage.

Make sure to closely inspect the car before you drive away in it. You will be paying a very high excess (deductible) with this sort of hire and if it comes back with any dents or scratches, they will be your responsibility. Keep the car clean as well, or you will face an additional charge for the agency having to clean it.

Remember to have fun. A prestige car hire may be the only way you ever get to drive one of these cars in your life.

Ferrari Exotic Cars

Originally founded in 1947, Ferrari is the world's foremost manufacturer of modified street legal performance cars. Based upon its Formula One engineering, the cars are fast, stylish and have earned a worldwide following based upon their superior quality. The 2006 Ferrari 599 Fiorano is a touring car which features a V12 engine capable of over 600 horsepower. The car is capable of going 0-60 in under four seconds and tops out at speeds of over 200 MPH. While you may never go this fast, the car handles immaculately well on the freeways and everyday streets at traditional speeds. Its 6-speed transmission handles well, making it a great option for those who want superior handling from a top sports car.

Introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari California jumped from the concept boards to the streets just in time for a test drive. The V8 model is a revival of a classic 1950s model, and features a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, a convertible metal roof and an advanced suspension. With limited production at just 5,000 models, the cars are in high demand. If you're looking for top performance on a budget, consider investing in a pre-owned Ferrari to take command of the road.

Exotic Lamborghini Vehicles

You'd be hard pressed to find a vehicle that conveys success, wealth and adventure better than a Lamborghini. For over four decades, the fine Italian sports cars have been redefining what is possible from a street legal super car, and continue that tradition to this day. With its trademark MurciƩlago sports car, the company refined what is possible from an upscale coupe. The limited production 6-speed V12 is one of the most powerful roadsters on the market today, and there are a number of used models on the aftermarket at much more reasonable prices. Inspired by the Diablo, the car is one of the top sports cars on the road, and continues to tear up local highways with its awe-inspiring acceleration.

An American Super Car

Most of the super camaro's were offspring of the Central Office Production Order or "COPO" camaro's, I know that the Yenko camaro was an offspring of the COPO 9737 Sports Car Coversion which was a 425 HP 427 CID iron engine, with a 140 MPH speed-o and Goodyear wide tread tires and 15x6 wheels, and Yenko added their exterior stripe kit and a set of gages to the interior, and created an icon, a camaro legend that would live forever as one of the toughest meanest camaro's ever built, a standard COPO 9737 was a plain looking car with no stripes or special interior amenities, in 1969 Yenko had wnet one step farther with the interior and embroidered a big sYc symbol at the top of the seat in the head rest, and you could not by any means mistake one of these cars for any other camaro.

There were a bunch of dealers that joined in the super car revolution of the 1960's, and a lot o the done very well at promoting their cars Don Yenko done a very good job at promoting his entry in to the super car revolution by hiring a driver who could get the job done, and show people the sYc camaro, in the process Dick Harrell would set many records in the sYc camaro, and prove it's validaty beyond the shadow of a doubt.

If that weren't enough a COPO 9560 simply called the "ZL1" camaro would hit the seen, the best purveyor of this car was Dick Harrell, Dick Harrell driving for Fred Gibb Chevrolet in the ZL1 camaro would set some of the most impressive times in the ¼ mile ever run in a factory camaro, this car came with an all aluminum 427 CID engine rated at 430 HP from the factory, the engine actually produced in the high end of the 500 HP range, and weighed only 30 pounds more then a small block Chevy, Harrell, with out a doubt did the best at promoting this car, he laid down a 10.36 to set his first record, and then later shattered that record with a 10.06, and this was a factory car that could be driven on the strett, although it was not meant to be driven on the street.

In the camaro realm of things their was yet another COPO package considered to be of super car proportions and that was the COOO 9561, which was a cast iron 425 HP 427 CID engine, yes of course that HP was underrated yet again, it put out the same amount of power as the COPO 9560 did, but weighed 300 pounds more, and was an impressive car also blasting the ¼ mile the mid 11 second range, making it a top contender for a title spot in the big race.

Super Cars to Fit Both You and Your Family

Super car manufacturers are not getting the thrill of hitting the top speed these days. Everyone dreams about owning a two-seater super car with either the prancing horse or the raging bull in front of the bonnet. When it comes to reality, one would opt for a sedan or a hot hatch these days for every day's usage.

Imagine going shopping or sending your kids to school. Driving a two-seater super car such as the Porsche 911 can only give you enough room for a child or some knick knacks from your local supermarket. Indeed the sports car of the yesteryear is a wonderfully built machine with it's well balanced power and subtle racing beauty but where is the practicality of everyday driving trips to fetch your kids home from school? Porsche, a well known sports car company based in Stuttgart has came out with the idea of a sports SUV.

The Porsche Cayenne is their answer to daily use sports car but wait a minute, is that not an SUV instead of a sedan? Lately, Maserati introduced the face-lifted Quattroporte, which is a four door sedan luxury sports car. With a 400bhp engine at the driver's hands, this is the ultimate everyday car that an enthusiastic driver will want to drive his wife or kids to the market or the school. The four door sedan allows ample space for passengers and a proper boot to store items. This is just the right car to get for those looking for performance, luxury, and practicality. Forgetting the SUV, the everyday and practical super car is here, with the Maserati being the trend starter.

Following the Quattroporte's success in being an everyday car, Porsche has recently unveiled their latest addition to their family - a four door hatchback sedan. Called the Porsche Panamera, this is the answer to wealthy families of four or less, as the two seats behind are actually semi bucket seats similar to the front ones, strongly reminding the sporty element of the Porsche itself. The Panamera is based on the Porsche Cayenne, just that it's a sedan rather than an SUV. With engine choices up to 4.8L and up to 400bhp, this 'family' super car will not shy on its company's racing heritage. Porsche plans to launch a hybrid model of the Panamera too and it will definitely be a hit for those who's searching for a hybrid sports vehicle.

Pretty soon there will be a trend of super 'family' cars going around with the word practicality in everyone's mind. Manufacturers such as Lamborghini and Aston Martin has already unveiled their four door super sedans, namely the Lamborghini Estoque and also the Aston Martin Rapide. Both of them are racing pedigrees and both of them are four-door sedans. This may help to turn the market a little bit, asking wealthy businessmen to start worrying about an extra seat or two for their growing family or maybe as a luxury super limo for the company's business trip to the airport - fast.

With all the big manufacturers starting to move away from solely producing super cars, the prancing horse company has their plan too. They also had a remade of their classic Ferrari California to be an everyday car - too bad it's still a two-door though.
